Crazy Defense Heroes Now Requires KYC for TOWER Reward Claiming

Crazy Defense Heroes, one of the most popular mobile play-to-earn games, has now launched its KYC verification requirements for TOWER reward withdrawals. This might come as a blow to many players in the space. KYC procedures usually complicate the claiming process, and of course, reveal the real identity of the players.

  • The new Crazy Defense Heroes KYC will require players who want to claim to share a lot of personal data like their name, address, and passport details
  • Importantly, the wallet provided during the KYC process will be the only one able to claim TOWER rewards for the approved account
  • Animoca Brands has also announced that during both May and June players will be able to benefit from a 1,800,000 TOWER rewards pool
  • Crazy Defense Heroes currently attracts around 60,000 unique wallets per month, according to the DappRadar Rankings

Crazy Defense Heroes brings in KYC

While the Crazy Defense Heroes team was not out there boasting the KYC requirements, it is there. Players who want to claim their TOWER rewards tokens will need to get through the KYC process first and get verified.

The crypto space has a love-hate relationship with KYC processes. Some people argue that this is the way to make the space safer for everyone. However, others believe KYC is degrading the foundational principles of what blockchain technology and cryptocurrency are and stand for.

Crazy Defense Heroes has partnered up with Blockpass for the know-your-customer (KYC) verification process. Players who wish to claim their TOWER rewards will need to visit this page and get their KYC verification first.

The verification process is pretty strict and requires players to provide a lot of personal information. This includes a copy of their passport or driving license, their address, a proof of address document, and a selfie. In the crypto space, this might sound a little over the top. Still, Animoca Brands and Crazy Defense Heroes have decided to take that road.

The KYC verification is part of a completely overhauled claiming page for Crazy Defense Heroes players. Importantly, the claiming page still does not show the rewards points for April, however, these should become available for claiming soon.

Verify to get a share of the 1,800,000 TOWER rewards pool

While a KYC process might have a somewhat negative impact on the gaming ecosystem, Crazy Defense Heroes is here to stay. Animoca Brands has announced that the rewards pools for the months of May and June will each be 1,800,000 TOWER.

At the time of writing, TOWER is valued at $0.01. Despite a steadily decreasing valuation, the prize pools for the next two months are now standing at $18,000 each. What’s more, there’s always the potential that TOWER rebounds and appreciates in value.

One of the ways Animoca Brands is promoting Crazy Defence Heroes’ native token is by incorporating in other play-to-earn platforms. For example, recently Arc8 players had a chance to compete in tournaments and earn TOWER instead of the platform’s native token GMEE

Crazy Defense Heroes’ performance

It will be interesting to see whether the new KYC verification process will have an impact on the number of players actively engaging with the game. At the time of writing, Crazy Defense Heroes is still one of the top-performing games on the Polygon blockchain, ranking third in 24-hour activity.

However, a drop in the number of unique active wallets interacting with the game is already visible. In the past 24 hours alone, the game attracted 4.5% fewer wallets. The 7-day data also shows a negative trend, as Crazy Defense Heroes active wallets decreased by more than 50%. Dropping token prices and the bearish outlook for the crypto market can play a role in this as well.

DappRadar will continue monitoring Crazy Defense Heroes as the KYC verification news reaches more players.
