Bitstamp’s head of operations in the U.S., Hunter Merghart, is leaving the company to join the early-stage crypto fund Castle Island Ventures.
- Merghart is joining Castle Island Ventures as an executive in residence and venture partner, as announced via his Twitter page Tuesday.
- He joined Bitstamp in April 2019, becoming the company's first U.S. employee, having previously spent a year as head of trading for Coinbase.
- Merghart also previously worked at Barclays and RBC in the seven years prior.
- Castle Island Ventures is an early-stage crypto fund. It raised $50 million for its second fund from high-net-worth individual family offices and others in February.
- In April, Fidelity Digital Asset's research director Mrinalini Bhutoria also joined Castle Island Ventures as a principal.
