Playboy is not only one of the most famous entertainment brands worldwide, but also a dedicated art curator of sorts. To honor this dedication to art, a collective of fans and Playboy reps, have created the Rabbitars NFT collection. A selection of 11,953 unique, non-fungible rabbits inspired by Playboy iconography will drop on October 24th.
The team behind Rabbitars has an ambitious goal to make the collection the ultimate homage to the Playboy ecosystem. With numerous events planned both for real-world locations and the metaverse, Rabbitars has a serious roadmap ahead of them. One of the main goals of the collection, however, is to create a tight-knit Playboy club for NFT collectors.
The 11,953 Rabbitars will sell for 0.1953 ETH each, which is pretty steep when compared with other NFT projects. Normally these sell for 0.08 or 0.07 ETH. However, you might already see a trend here, the number 1953. That’s the year the first Playboy Magazine hit the market.
According to the official website, each Rabbitar is a key that unlocks membership to all the possibilities of Playboy on the blockchain. This includes exclusive access to Playboy art and artist collaborations, IRL and metaverse events and experiences, physical and virtual fashion, and many other perks, all branded with the famous Playboy bunny.
Playboy Rabbitar NFTs
Nods to Playboy’s heritage and iconography are part of each NFT in the Rabbitar collection. Consequently, every hare-holder can hodl a piece of the Playboy brand in their wallet.
There are more than 175 traits including fur, ears, facial expressions, apparel, accessories, occupation-related characteristics, and more. This makes Rabbitars some of the most varied NFT collections out there. Importantly, some of the rarest Rabbitar traits are inspired by culturally significant aspects of Playboy’s art and editorial history.
It’s mint time!
One of the most interesting aspects of the Rabbitars collection is the organization surrounding the official mint. In an effort to make the mint process as transparent and equal as possible, Rabbitars devs have decided to split the mint into three different segments.
The presale for whitelisted wallets will happen between Sunday, October 24th, and Tuesday, October 26th. While a presale is a traditional element, the next phase of the mint is somewhat revolutionary. In order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to own a Rabbitar, the team decided to allow minting with fiat on October 26th.
The fiat payment option will only be available for a day. Collectors will have to cover gas fees for the mint as well. However, in order to ease in fans who are not crypto natives, the Rabbitars team decided to mint these tokens themselves. The tokens are then forwarded to the fiat-paying collectors. Last but not least, on October 27th, ETH mints will become publicly available to everyone.
