BitMEX CEO Alexander Hoeptner Departs From the Crypto Futures Exchange

The CEO of crypto futures exchange BitMEX, Alexander Hoeptner, has left the firm.

Stephan Lutz, was appointed as interim CEO, according to a company spokesperson. Lutz will also continue to serve as the exchange's CFO, the spokesperson added.

Hoeptner had joined in late 2020. Before BitMEX, Hoeptner was CEO of German stock exchange Borse Stuttgart GmbH and liquidity provider Euwax AG.

Earlier this month, Hoeptner told CoinDesk that the exchange was planning to launch its native token, BMEX, by the end of the year.

The interim CEO Lutz, was a former partner at auditing and consultancy giant PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Lutz had BITMEX in March of 2021.
